People pick Posey at the polls

Chickasha voters followed the campaign signs and picked Posey at the polls on Tuesday. Ryan Posey took more than 68 percent of the vote, defeating opponent and former city council member David Thomas by a margin of 460 to 209 for the position of city council member for Ward 3.

Tuesday fire destroys part of Helm’s home in Alex

A Tuesday afternoon fire destroyed part of the Helm family residence in rural Alex, leaving three boys with virtually nothing but what they were wearing to school that day.The three brothers who are still at home – Alex, Travis and Austin – had been living in a converted out-building on the property, while their mom, Terry, and their sisters were occupying the trailer home.

18-year-old dies in car wreck

A 18-year-old Chickasha woman died in a single-car accident Monday on County Road 2970. Natasha Jaques was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident from head and internal injuries, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. She was a May graduate of Chickasha High School.

Livestock show a family affair for Seibolds

After his bath, a haircut, a blow dry and a leg fluff, Wild Child is ready for the show ring. Wild Child, a Suffolk sheep, is the pride of Callie Seibold, 14, of Ninnekah, who is showing him at the Grady County Junior Livestock Show at the Grady County Fairgrounds.

City manager resigns

After 20 years of service to the Chickasha community, City Manager Larry Shelton announced his resignation Monday night.City Council members met in an executive session for almost three hours before deciding to grant the resignation and retirement benefits to Shelton. Shelton’s resignation will go into effect on June 30, 2011.
