Obama wants to finish health care plan

WASHINGTON — Saying Americans deserve a final vote on health care reform, President Barack Obama embraced the so-called "nuclear option” Wednesday as he urged Congress to finish work on the issue in the next few weeks.

In a speech at the White House to health care officials, the president said lawmakers had talked enough about the topic to know where everyone stands and that the major differences between Republicans and Democrats likely can’t be bridged by starting over, as Republicans have demanded.

"Reform has already passed the House with a majority,” the president said.
